Art Supply List
Baby wipes to clean hands. one package each quarter per student please. We have no sink in the art room and each student should have a package of wipes to clean their hands. This would be most helpful when painting, sculpture and messy art projects.
5th and 6th grade - sketchbook (recommended but not mandatory)
9th grade - sketchbook with white drawing paper (mandatory for sketchbook homework assignments)
***PLEASE consider donating used Magazines for collage projects (send with your child to the art room). At the moment we have none and this is usually a very popular art form with students.
***I'm in need of "How to draw______" type books and/or kid friendly books about art for our art classroom library. Old comic books, Disney picture books, etc. Pokémon books with images, etc. are also very popular because students enjoy practicing drawing from books like these. I like to encourage students to do "art research" and become inspired by books in the art room. I believe it is very important for students to read and I am always looking for ways to incorporate literacy and art in my classroom.
Thank you

Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) - teachingforartisticbehavior.org/index.html - in my classroom I use a modified or blended TAB approach to learning. We still incorporate art history, traditional art concepts, skills and project based learning, but I am moving towards allowing students to work more independently and to have more creative freedom to make art that is both educational and meaningful to them. With more choice and independence comes student responsibilities, such as learning how to set up and clean up their work areas independently. Students are learning new procedures in order to be more responsible artists within their art studio in the beginning of the school year. Many students are new to this approach to learning and still need support, guidance and scaffolding as we transition to a more creative approach to learning through the visual arts.
